Etihad-Rail-fully-operational

The Etihad Rail Track Is Now Fully Operational

In March 2023, it was announced that the UAE’s Etihad Rail Track has been completed.

And now a video has been shared, showing it fully operational. A freight train can be seen using the track to transport goods across the UAE.

Etihad Rail shared on Twitter, saying “Etihad Rail’s freight services are now fully operational, offering comprehensive end-to-end transport solutions that cater to all your business needs. With our cutting-edge fleet, we can efficiently transport any type of cargo across the UAE.”

Currently only operational for freight, the railway service has not announced when it will be opening to passengers.

Etihad Rail’s 1,200 km network extends across the country, from the border of Saudi Arabia to the border of Oman.

When the passenger train service is complete, it will connect 11 cities and regions across the UAE.

It will stretch from Al Sila to Fujairah including Al Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Dhaid and Abu Dhabi. The hope is this will reduce the number of people who commute by car between the Emirates by 30 to 40 percent.

The railway network will also connect Sohar in Oman to Abu Dhabi in the UAE, via Sohar Port to the UAE National Rail Network. Trains are estimated to take 1 hour 40 minutes to move between Abu Dhabi and Sohar, and just 47 minutes to travel from Al Ain to Sohar.
