UAE Heavy Rain: Dubai And Sharjah Residents Witness First Rain Of Winter

After having long summer months, Dubai and Sharjah residents finally experienced first rain of the winter season on November 22.

Several residents have been sharing videos of rains covering several areas of Dubai, such as Dubai World Trade Centre to Jumeirah and Karama – as well as the neighboring emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi and Umm Al Quwain.

Indeed, rain is always welcome in the United Arab Emirates.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan requested all mosques across UAE to perform rain prayers on November 11. ANNNDD the residents just enjoyed their first rain!

The National Centre of Meteorology recorded heavy rain over scattered areas of Dubai as well as light to heavy rain over Sharjah and Dubai Airports as well as moderate to heavy rain over Umm Al Quwain and Ajman.

Several videos also showed motorists navigating wet, flooded roads. Authorities in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi have issued advisories to drivers in light of the rains, warning them to exercise caution in order to prevent accidents.

“Ensure public safety in rainy weather by driving carefully and not exceeding the speed limit. Adhere to traffic lights at all times and don’t accelerate fast when they turn green to ensure vehicle stability,” said Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority in a tweet.
