Global Village Announces Dhs1Million Scholarship Offer To UAE Students

Calling all parents of aspiring film directors in the United Arab Emirates. If you have an up-and-coming Tarantino or Spielberg on your hands, this one’s for you.

To mark Creators Month, Global Village and Bloom World Academy (BWA) are setting up The Young Directors Award competition.

A whopping Dhs1million scholarship prize for schooling at BWA is up for grabs and entry is absolutely free.

This fun competition forms part of Global Village’s Creators Month, launched to celebrate the International Month of Creativity.

Do you have any questions about how your kid can enter the competition? The contest is already open and will remain so until February 1.

UAE citizens aged five to fourteen are urged to apply by sending in a film with the title “My More Wonderful World” that is under four minutes long.

It ought to describe what they—or someone they know—would do to improve the world, or how they are actively working to create a better future.

Anyone who is making a difference, such as a teacher, friend, family member, or other community person, can be featured in the video.

Juniors, who are between the ages of five and ten, and Seniors, who are between the ages of eleven and fourteen, compete for the Young Directors Award.

How Will The Winners Be Chosen?

The judging panel will feature talented personalities from the local film and media industry, including Saeed Aljanahi, Director of Operations, Dubai Film & TV Commission, Nyla Usha, actress and host of The Big Breakfast Club on Hit 96.7, Emirati Director Nahla Al Fahad, Dubai Eye 103.8 radio presenter Helen Farmer and John Bell, Principal, Bloom World Academy.

The judges will consider each entry’s originality, ingenuity, and “wonderfulness.”

Following the announcement of the winners, all finalists will receive invitations to a red-carpet-themed premiere where their films will be screened in front of a large audience at the Kids’ Theatre stage in the Global Village.

Interesting, huh? Two junior and senior category winners will get Dhs1 million each to use toward their study at Bloom World Academy.
