Emirates ID Application Procedure Clarified After False Fee Claim

Need to renew your Emirates ID? Well, a false post has been spreading everywhere this week, saying that GCC citizens could get their hands on one by just paying fee.

However, to tell you the truth, this is not the case.

The reality of this week’s development is that, if you’re a UAE resident or GCC national officially residing in the country, you can get your Emirates ID within 24 hours.

A new high-speed service is in place that will cost an extra Dhs150. Expats can also use it, if you want to use the 24-hour service for the renewal of expired, lost or damaged cards.

The clarification from the UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) came today in response to a fake post circulating online.

The post, published on ICP social media channels on Thursday, reads: “The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizen, Customs and Ports Security denies the promotional information attributed to it and circulated through social media channels about enabling citizens of the GCC to get the Emirates ID card for a fee only.”

The authority further clarified that you need to “fulfil the requirements” to get an Emirates ID. And the process is “subject to terms and conditions in accordance with the regulating decisions, “which have not undergone any changes”.
