Emirates Changes Its Air Miles: Know More About Its Benefits

Recently, Emirates announced a few changes affecting the Skywards members.

The UAE flag carrier is introducing an increase in the number of Skywards Miles needed to upgrade to Firsts Class and Business Class.

The increase is now in effect and gradually being introduced on reward tickets across the airline’s networks.

Emirates is increasing award costs “in line with market conditions,” but has not specified just how much miles are being devalued.

However, it’s not all bad.

To avoid any impact on its loyal customers, the airline will be increasing bonus Skywards Miles earning opportunities for all Silver, Gold, and Platinum members.

Emirates Skywards Blue benefits

This is the first tier of membership. As a Blue member, you can enjoy travel benefits from upgrades using Skywards Miles at check‑in or on-board, waitlist priority and access to free messaging using onboard wifi when you’re travelling in Business Class. Blue members will not enjoy any awards.

Emirates Skywards Silver

You need to earn 25,000 Tier Miles or take 25 flights to become a Silver tier member. You cannot buy your way up. As a Silver member you have access to all Blue tier membership benefits, as well as 30 percent bonus Miles on Emirates flights (increasing from 25%), complimentary Emirates Business Class lounge access for you in Dubai and so much more.

Emirates Skywards Gold

You jet setter, you. Look forward to a higher level of benefits and more premium services with a Gold membership. You need to earn 50,000 Tier Miles or take 50 flights to become a Gold tier member. As a Gold member, you have access to all Blue and Silver tier membership benefits as well as 75 percent bonus Skywards Miles on Emirates flights (increasing from 50 percent), and complimentary Economy Class seat selection for you and passengers in your booking.

Emirates Skywards Platinum

Who even are you? The highest tier rewards with advantages carefully designed to make every journey amazing. To get to the Platinum level, you have to earn 150,000 Tier Miles or more. As a Platinum member, you get to enjoy all the benefits of a Blue, Silver and Gold membership as well as first-class check‑in and baggage delivery, complimentary lounge access for you and your guests in all Emirates First Class and Business Class lounges in Dubai and worldwide, 100 percent bonus Skywards Miles on Emirates flights (previously 75 percent) and Gold tier membership for a spouse, partner or friend.
