Hong Kong Film Festival Returns To Cinema Akil

Are you a Hong Kong cinema fan? Well, Hong Kong Film Festival is returning to Cinema Akil soon. Get your movie snacks ready as the second edition of the festival will run from Friday November 10 until Thursday November 16 at the independent movie theatre in Alserkal Avenue.

A full experience for those who adore films made in the Hollywood of the East, seven movies will be showcased throughout the event, and some actors will also be around for the screenings

Among the actors coming to the festival is Ng Wing Sze, known for her performance in Mad Fate and Back Home.

  • Mad Fate (2023): Friday November 10, 8pm; Wednesday November 15, 9.30pm.
  • A Light Never Goes Out (2022): Friday November 10, 10:45pm; Thursday November 16, 9:15pm.
  • The Narrow Road (2022): Saturday November 11, 7pm.
  • Where the Wind Blows (2022): Saturday November 11, 9:30pm; Tuesday November 14: 7pm.
  • Back Home (2023): Sunday November 12, 7pm; Tuesday November 14: 10pm.
  • The Way of the Dragon (1972): Sunday November 12, 9:30pm; Thursday November 16: 7pm.
  • Made in Hong Kong (1997): November Saturday November 11, 8pm at 25h Hotel; Wednesday November 15: 7pm.

The tickets to see each movie are Dhs56.50; season passes are also available at Dhs150 and can be purchased via the Cinema Akil website.

The project is presented by the Asian Film Awards Academy (AFAA) in collaboration with Cinema Akil, financially supported by Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) and the Film Development Fund (FDF) alongside the support of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) in Dubai.
