Dubai Airport To Expand With More Smart Gates, Passenger Capacity And Lounges

DXB airport has been declared to be the world’s busiest international airport.

And DXB, Dubai International Airport, is soon set to be able to host even more passengers as plans are in the works for the travel hub to grow.

We can’t wait to witness new lounges, extra space and a full-scale smart airport.

Dubai Airports’ CEO Paul Griffiths revealed that DXB will be receiving between Dhs6billion to Dhs10billion for a makeover in the next five to seven years.

Once Dubai International Airport reaches maximum capacity operations will expand at the city’s second airport, Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).

DXB flies to 229 destinations across 99 countries on more than 88 international carriers.

According to ACI World’s annual report, the Dubai-based airport had the most international passengers transiting through its doors (for nine years in a row).

In total, DXB welcomed a total of 66,069,981 passengers in 2022, which was 127 percent higher than the previous year.

ACI World’s report also looked at the airports that saw the highest total number of passengers. DXB ranked fifth for this title.
