A Huge Surge Expected In Demand For Dubai Hotels In November

The end of November and the start of December is a busy time in the city. As a result, demand for hotel rooms looks set to be higher than the numbers we see on New Year’s Eve.

There is set to be huge demand for rooms from Thursday November 30 until Tuesday December 12, as around 70,000 people are expected to descend on Dubai.

According to data from hotel analytics provider STR, interest for the first two nights is already ahead of New Year’s Eve, which is traditionally one of the busiest for Dubai’s hotels, The National reports.

“Occupancy on the books data as of July 10 already shows elevated hotel demand for that period, with 17.2 percent of rooms already booked on Friday December 1 and 17.5 percent on Saturday December 2, which coincides with UAE National Day,” said Kostas Nikolaidis, Middle East and Africa executive at STR.

“In comparison, occupancy on the books for New Year’s Eve, which is usually the best-performing day in the year for Dubai hotels, is at 12.5 percent. There is no doubt that bookings will continue to increase as we get closer to the winter months.”

Wondering the reason? Because the COP28 summit is taking place in the city and the climate talks will see representatives of governments or observer organisations, like charities, come together to discuss the planet’s climate crisis.

COP meetings include negotiations and debates with the aim of reviewing progress towards the overall goal of the UNFCCC, which is to limit climate change.

The busy period also coincides with National Day, the UAE’s final public holiday of 2023. Paired with Commemoration Day falling on Friday December 1, it will give residents a three-day weekend.
