41.6 Million People Travelled Through DXB In The First Half Of 2023

Dubai International Airport (DXB) is back to its busiest best, with passenger levels surpassing 2019 levels (pre-pandemic).

Tourists, residents and transit passengers have flocked to Dubai since the beginning of 2023. A reported 41.6 million people travelled through DXB during the first six months of the year, an increase of 49.1 percent on 2022’s first quarter traffic which was 27.9 million.

This year, a further 20.3 million people made their way through the airport during the second quarter of this year, with May (the busiest month of the year) seeing 6.9 million travellers walk through its doors.

But despite the huge numbers, DXB’s baggage performance continues to be world-leading.

This year so far, DXB handled approximately 37.2 million bags without compromising baggage delivery to customers – with 92 percent of all baggage delivered within 45 minutes.

DXB is connected to 257 destinations in 104 countries, via more than 91 international airlines. The most popular destination is India which saw six million guests travelling in the first quarter of the year.

Saudi Arabia followed in popularity with 3.1 million travellers heading to the Kingdom and the UK next with 2.8 million travelling there during the first half of 2023.
