You Will Be Able To Pay For Your Dubai Taxi With Your Face Real Soon

Purchasing tickets and carrying bank cards has become a thing of the past in Dubai.

You’ll soon be able to pay for Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, buses, taxis and marine transport via facial recognition technology.

So excited to hop on public transport without using tickets, nol cards, or credit cards.

Proving that the technology is ready, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) unveiled a smart gate for public transport fares at GITEX 2023 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Users are identified by a camera that recognises the face and analyses it in 3D. This image is then transformed into bio data matched with the image, and the ticket amount is deducted from the account.

The RTA will also be introducing the transfer of ownership of vehicle number plate service on the RTA Dubai Drive app, which will mean there’s no need to visit customer service centres.

This allows the customer to complete the transaction via the smart app and complete the sales procedures that begin by registering in the system using UAE Pass. Users will also be able to securely sign the sales contract using the e-signature function.
