New Route Planned For Dubai Metro Blue Line

You Can Soon Use Your Phone To Pay For The Dubai Metro

Dubai residents with Samsung phones won’t have to carry a nol card when using the Dubai Metro real soon.

For the first time in the region, the digitalisation of public transport cards on smartphones is being planned due to an agreement between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Samsung.

The agreement, aimed at enabling the use of digital nol cards on Samsung smart devices through nol payment platform (nolPay App), was signed during the GITEX at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Once up and running, users will be able to download their digital nol cards onto Samsung smart devices through the nol payment app.

This will allow nol cards to be used when making digital payments across the public transportation network.

If you don’t own a Samsung phone, you can top up your nol travel card on the go with your nol Pay app. Say goodbye to last-minute dashes to the top-up machine as it makes keeping funds on your card easier.

Once you download the app, all you need to do is tap your nol card on your mobile phone to view card information such as transaction history, credit and expiry date. It’s super convenient.

There are three different nol card colours to select from which all have different features.

Silver is designed for frequent travellers who just want to get from A to B, blue is for people who want a personalised, secured card, complete with online services (you’ll need to wait for the RTA to post it to you), while gold gets you access to Gold Class carriages – but at a premium price.
