UAE March Petrol Prices To Be Announced With Cut Expected

The UAE’s petrol and diesel prices will be changed in the month of March. The reason is that the nation’s fuel price committee meets to set the rate at the end of every month.

And residents could well be set for good news, as prices tend to fluctuate in line with global trends. As oil prices fell throughout the month of February, it is likely the price of fuel in the UAE will follow this trend in March.

Brent futures fell to $83.16 a barrel (down from $88.16 in January) and US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude settled at $75.39 a barrel (having peaked at $81.01 in January).

In case reduced prices are confirmed, it will be similar to February’s situation. Last month, there was a price hike to reflect the increased rates internationally.

Super 98 petrol rose to Dhs3.05 per litre, compared to Dhs2.78 in January. Special 95 petrol rose to Dhs2.93 per litre, compared to Dhs2.67 in January.

E-Plus 91 petrol rose to Dhs2.86 a litre, compared to Dhs2.59 a litre in January. And diesel rose to Dhs3.38 a litre, compared to Dhs3.29 in January.

In 2022, UAE petrol prices went above Dhs4 for the first time in June. And they reached an all-time high in July, with Super 98 costing Dhs4.63 per litre.

Prices then fell for three consecutive months in August, September and October. Then a November hike was followed by a further reduction in December.

Fuel prices in the country were liberalised in 2015, with local rates being aligned with global oil prices. For the past seven years, the fuel price committee has met on a monthly basis to announce revised rates.
