UAE Expats Can Enter The Country Even If They Have Lost Their Passport

From earning tax-free income to having the world’s best lifestyle, there are many perks being a UAE resident.

And now, if an expat has lost their Emirates ID or passport, there is nothing to worry about because you can jet back to the UAE without any hassle.

Yes, you read it right! Under new rules, expats can enter the UAE without their passport or EID. Happy days.

So, how do you proceed if you find yourself in the sticky situation of losing your documents? First, expats must submit an entry request to the UAE via the smart services platform.

Once inside the country, the person with the missing passport or Emirates ID must visit the correct department to complete procedures to get their docs replaced within three working days.

If you have lost your EID, the steps are easy to get it replaced from the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security.

First you must report the lost card at an ICP Customer Happiness Centre and then apply for a replacement via the Customer Happiness Centre or via the UAE ICP app.

This will then be followed by paying the fees needed and there is an option to pay more for the express ID replacement service.

You will then receive a text message from ICP about the status of the submitted application and the expected delivery date.

If you lose your passport in the UAE, you have to apply for a new passport (to your embassy in the UAE).

However, first, report the loss of the passport to the police station.
