UAE Announces Flexible Working Hours For Parents

The Federal Authority For Government Human Resources has announced that Government staff with children will be allowed flexibility for the school week in order to take their kids to and from school.

Just for the first day of school, Government workers are allowed a total of three hours for school drop-off and pick-up.

Those who have little tots in a nursery are allowed flexibility for the first week of the academic year.

Another positive move is that employees are offered flexibility for other school events such as parent-teacher meetings, activities and occasions.

The kids are currently off school for their summer break but will return on Monday August 28.

After summer, the next holiday for kiddos of school age will be the winter break, also called Christmas holidays.

Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has now confirmed the dates for the school year ahead.

Here are the Dubai school dates for 2023-2024 academic year:

• Start of the academic year: Monday August 28, 2023.
• Start of winter break: Monday December 11, 2023.
• Resumption of classes after winter break: Tuesday January 2, 2024.
• Start of spring break: Monday March 25, 2024.
• Resumption of classes after spring break: Thursday April 15, 2024.
• The academic year is not to end before Friday June 28, 2024.
