Three Special Moon Events To Take Place In Dubai This August

Stargazers are in for a treat this August as there will be three major Moon events in one month.

It could be time to invest in a telescope or binoculars as you’ll be sure to get your money’s worth as a Supermoon, Micro Moon and Blue Moon will all appear in the night sky.

First up is the Supermoon that will be visible on the night of Tuesday August 1.

Supermoons happen when a Full Moon coincides with the Moon’s closest approach to Earth in its elliptical orbit, a point known as perigee.

A Supermoon appears larger and brighter than other full moons, so be dazzled. Next up will be a New Micromoon glowing in the Dubai night sky on Wednesday August 16.

What makes a new Micromoon? It’s when the New Moon is at its farthest point from Earth (which, in astronomy, is named the apogee).

As Wednesday August 16’s Micromoon is a New Moon, the side of the Moon facing the Earth will not be illuminated by the Sun, making it invisible with or without a telescope or binoculars.

Come Thursday August 31, there will then be the second Full Moon, a Blue Moon.

This is sure to be on to catch your eye as the August Blue Moon will also be a SuperMoon (just like the one seen on Tuesday August 1).

Fingers crossed for clear skies for all three of the Moon events in August.
