Sheikh Zayed Road To Close For Two Days Next Month

Sheikh Zayed Road To Close For Two Days Next Month

Dubai’s main road, Sheikh Zayed Road, is to be inaccessible to drivers for two days next month.

The first date to note down is November 12 as Dubai Fitness Challenge hosts Dubai Ride, which is an event for cyclists of all abilities. Dubai Run, which sees pro and amateur runners race along the Tarmac, will then be the reason for the second closure date on November 26.

As for the exact timing of the closures across the two dates, they’re yet to be confirmed but Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) will share details closer to the time.

The good news is that the Dubai Metro will continue to run, meaning that you can make the most of public transport if you need to get to the area.

Free to enter, Dubai Run and Dubai Ride are a once-a-year chance to run or cycle along Sheikh Zayed Road.

For Dubai run, the 5km route begins on Sheikh Zayed Road near Museum of the Future, passes the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera and ends near Dubai Mall.

A longer 10km route follows Sheikh Zayed Road to the Dubai Canal, then heads back towards Trade Centre and finishes on Al Mustaqbal Street near DIFC.

Last year, Sheikh Zayed Road was closed in both directions from the Trade Centre Roundabout to the 2nd Interchange.

Lower Financial Centre Street and the Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard Road were also closed.

For Dubai Ride, there is the choice of a 4km family-friendly route through Downtown Dubai or a 12km ride along Sheikh Zayed Road with starting points at Museum of The Future, Al Satwa, Coca-Cola Arena, Business Bay and Lower Financial Street.
