RTA To Sell Off Premium Three-Digit Car License Plates

Dubai residents know that the lower the number plate number, the more it is worth.

And drivers wanting to get a new plate can do so soon as Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is auctioning off a stack of premium car licence plates online on Monday May 29.

If you’re a motorist and you’re happy to part with a stash of cash to bag a new plate, you can register now to take part in the online auction.

As for what’s up for grabs, 350 number plates comprised of two-digit plates for vintage vehicles and motorbikes in addition to three, four and five-digit plates for private vehicles, will be on sale.

The auction is the 71st in the RTA’s online auctions for distinguished licensing numbers.

The bidding process will kick off at 8am on Monday May 29 and last until Friday June 2. Each bidder is required to have a Traffic File opened in Dubai, deposit a security cheque amounting to Dhs5,000 made to the RTA, and pay an un-refundable participation fee of Dhs120.

Keep in mind that the selling of licensing plates in this auction is subject to a five percent VAT charge.
