Pass Through Salik Toll Gates For Free In Dubai

Salik is Dubai’s automated toll collection system and, each time a vehicle passes through a toll point, a fee of Dhs4 is automatically deducted from a prepaid account.

Currently, there are eight Salik Gates in Dubai, including:

  • Al Barsha
  • Al Garhoud
  • Al Maktoum
  • Al Mamzar South
  • Al Mamzar North
  • Al Safa
  • Airport Tunnel
  • Jebel Ali

How To Pass Through Some Of These Salik Toll Gates For Free?

On weekday evenings and all day on Sundays, cars passing under the toll gate at Al Maktoum Bridge, located on Umm Hurair Road, will be exempt from Salik tolls.

The exemption applies when the Floating Bridge is closed and is in effect from 10pm to 6am, Monday to Friday and from Saturday at 10pm until Monday at 6am.

Tolls will still be applicable on Fridays for vehicles crossing the bridge.

If you’re on the way to Sharjah and you pass through Al Mamzar South, you will pay Dhs4. But if you then pass through Al Mamzar North within one hour, you can drive underneath that toll gate for free.

And vice versa… When passing through Al Mamzar North on your way to the Al Mamzar South gate in the same direction within an hour you will only be charged only once. That’s technically a discount.

Setting Up Your Salik

To sign up for your Salik, go online to buy a tag or stop by any petrol station in Dubai. You can then stick your tag to your windshield, add credit and you’re able to pass through the toll gates with ease. Each payment will be deducted automatically.

You can register, buy a tag and recharge all your credit by heading to www.salik.gov.ae, or via the Smart Salik App available in the Apple Store and Google Play store.

A Salik tag costs Dhs100 to set up, which includes Dhs50 for the tag itself and Dhs50 for a pre-paid toll balance.
