New Route Planned For Dubai Metro Blue Line

New Route Planned For Dubai Metro Blue Line

Dubai Metro is surely getting upgraded.

An entirely new line, which will be the Dubai Metro Blue Line, will join the Red and Green Lines. The Blue line will connect the existing Red and Green lines and be 30 kilometres in length.

Interestingly and unlike the current Metro Lines, 15.5km will be underground and 14.5km above ground. It’s understood that the line will have 14 stations; seven of which will be elevated and five underground stations.

Proving that Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) wants to get work started, the authority has issued a notice seeking expressions of interest from contractors for the new design and build.

The project is in the early stages but it is sure to be exciting news for public transport users in Dubai. Currently, Green Line stations are in Bur Dubai and Deira in the old town.

The Red Line connects the old city and airport to Downtown, Dubai Marina and Expo 2020 in the south-west.

Last October, it was revealed that both the Red Line and the Green Line were to be expanded but this is the first time news of a Blue Line has surfaced.
