New Etihad Rail Video Shows Project’s Largest Dry Port

With the Etihad Rail in use for freight trains, a new video has been released on X (formerly Twitter). Showcasing the largest dry port within the network, the clip shows the building process.

The Al Ghail Dry Port is located in Ras Al Khaimah and can handle 15 million tonnes of raw materials each year, which will supply the construction industry across the country.

Freight trains are now operating across the UAE, thanks to the rail network’s construction. The fleet consists of 38 locomotives and over 1,000 wagons capable of carrying a wide range of goods.

The Etihad Rail connects the Emirates, and later it will connect the Emirates to Oman. Currently only in use for freight trains, there are still big things in the works for the train line – which is open to passengers in the future.

The forthcoming passenger train service is building up steam in the UAE and it’s going to make travel between the Emirates faster, greener and more convenient.

The Etihad Rail passenger train will connect 11 cities and regions across the UAE. It will stretch from Al Sila to Fujairah including Al Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Dhaid and Abu Dhabi.

Once open for travel, the number of passengers is expected to reach 36.5 million annually. All aboard.

Travelling from Abu Dhabi to Dubai and from Dubai to Fujairah will only take 50 minutes each in the future. Travelling from Abu Dhabi to Al Ruwais will only take one hour and ten minutes and travelling from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah will take one hour and 40 minutes.
