Meteor Shower To Light Up Dubai Sky Tonight

The first Quadrantids meteor shower of 2023 will be happening tonight.

Let’s hope that the clouds clear up tonight so we can witness a beautiful meteor shower through the night sky.

Stargazers can gaze up the sky tonight from 11pm onwards to get a glimpse of the shooting stars.

If you don’t know about Quadrantids, we are here to provide the details. It is the name of the event happening at Dubai Astronomy Centre tonight.

However, the meteor shower may not be 100 percent clear to see as the night sky is not primed for observation tonight as it will not be a moonless night (the moon phase for today is a Waxing Gibbous phase, this is the phase where the moon is more than 50 percent illuminated but has not yet reached 100% illumination).

Although the stargazing doesn’t need any special equipment as it will be clear to the naked eye. But if you don’t want to watch it with a telescope or find out more about the sky then head to Dubai Astronomy Centre tonight.

Taking place at the Al Qudra Desert tonight into and the morning of January 4, ticketholders are invited to observe different planets and objects through telescopes.

General tickets will set you back Dhs120, while kids under 13 cost Dhs100 and for an additional fee of Dhs50 you can be picked up at Centerpoint Metro Station. Handy if you are unable to get into the desert under the cover of darkness.
