Many Dubai’s Public Beaches Have been Made Bigger And Better

Saying that we are lucky enough to be surrounded by beaches here in Dubai wouldn’t be wrong.

And Dubai Municipality is on a mission to keep the city’s beaches in tip-top shape.

As part of its latest project, Dubai Municipality has spent Dhs93 million to improve public beaches in the Emirate including Al Mamzar Corniche, Jumeirah 1, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1.

Making the beaches larger, a total of 112,000 square metres of space has been added to these public beaches in the city.

The extra space will be used for recreational activities, future developments and new facilities and services.

The project, which is now complete, focused on safeguarding Dubai’s sandy shores by building beach protection facilities and laying down fresh sand. These steps are to ensure stability and sustainability and to raise the ground level to avoid submergence during storms.

Key highlights include Umm Suqeim Beach 1 getting an additional beach of approximately 500 metres with the new land spanning a total area of 30,000 square metres.

Al Mamzar Corniche Beach has had 9,000 square metres of land backfilled and a 100-metre-long rocky belt installed.

Jumeirah 1 Beach’s update included supplying and feeding the beach with 125,000 cubic metres of beach sand, within a total length of 1,000 linear metres. Other improvements include the maintenance of existing coastal fenders and increasing their lengths by approximately 160 metres.

Jumeirah Beach 3 was also supplied with 580,000 cubic metres of beach sand and the installation of 30,400 cubic metres of rock protection, plus other upgrades such as rock belts.
