Indian, Pakistani, And Filipino Drivers Can Convert Their Driving License In Dubai Without Lessons

Did you just recently move to Dubai and now worried about transferring your driving license? Well, there is a driving license update that you must know.

Previously, those who obtained their licence in countries not approved by the Road Transport Authority (RTA) would need to sit lessons and a driving test in order to convert it.

Now, the ‘golden chance’ scheme means you can convert your licence without having to take lessons. When applying for the conversion of your licence, you will just need to take a theory and road test.

Applicable to those who hold driving licences from countries not approved by the RTA, including India, Pakistan and the Philippines, the golden chance offers you the opportunity to get on the road post-test.

Those wanting to exchange their licence from an approved country can simply convert their licence at the RTA.

These countries include the UK, France, Hong Kong, South Africa, Denmark, Ireland, USA, Canada and more. See all the countries applicable for direct driving license exchange here.

It’s important to note that if you’ve obtained your licence from certain countries, including Lithuania and Greece, you will need to withdraw your foreign licence to drive in Dubai.
