Enjoy An Incredible View Of Saturn At Mushrif Park This Sunday

Earlier in August, a Perseids Meteor shower sparkled over the Dubai sky and there will be a Supermoon that’s also a Blue Moon making an appearance on Thursday August 31.

But before the next Full Moon, there will be another night sky event taking place on Sunday August 27.

The second-largest planet in the Solar System, Saturn, will be closer to Earth than at any other night of the year.

Once every year, the Earth passes between the Sun and Saturn, which brings the ringed planet opposite the Sun in our sky. This is called opposition by astronomers.

Saturn, referred to as the jewel of the Solar System, will be brighter than usual making it a top time to view the planet that sits sixth-furthest away from the Sun.

There is the opportunity to learn more about the planetary spectacle as you look up to the sky to see Saturn and its rings at Al Thuraya Astronomy Centre, Mushrif Park.

The venue is putting on an evening event and tickets are Dhs50 per adult and Dhs30 per child.

A lecture, a Q and A session, telescope observation and phone photography of Saturn through the telescopes, are part of the schedule.

If you want to go further afield, Mleiha will be hosting an hour-long viewing session which can be booked by emailing mleihamanagement@discovermleiha.ae.

Dhs50 (adults), Dhs30 (kids). Sun Aug 27 7.30pm onwards. Mushrif Park, althurayaastronomycenter.ae.
