Emirates To Introduce High-speed Wi-Fi To 50 Aircraft

In this era of technology, we are rarely disconnected from Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, but hopping on an airplane can slow our online activity due to all the traveling.

However, Emirates Airline will be bringing speedier broadband to its flyers, even travellers flying over the Arctic, onboard of 50 new Airbus A350 aircraft.

At the moment, the internet on board can leave a lot to be desired due to limited bandwidth (streaming isn’t seamless) but messaging on platforms such as WhatsApp and iMessenger isn’t too bad.

As for when you can expect the improved high-speed Wi-Fi it will be available from 2024 when Emirates unveils its new fleet of Airbus A350s.

Internet geek? The new high-speed, inflight broadband will be powered by Inmarsat’s GX Aviation and will improve the passenger experience with enhanced connectivity and greater global coverage. Bring on the in-flight games of Candy Crush.

Skywards Gold or Silver members travelling in Business Class and First Class who are scheduled to hop on a flight in the near future are lucky enough to have complimentary internet access throughout the flight. Platinum members travelling in any cabin class also get free internet access onboard.

If you want to buy Wi-Fi access on your next Emirates flight it just takes four steps; connect to the OnAir Wi‑Fi network after take‑off, log in if you’re an Emirates Skywards member, choose a Wi‑Fi plan and then pay online.

Prices depend on the flight duration.
