Etihad Rail update: Al Qudra Bridge

In a tweet sharing the new photos, Etihad Rail said, “Based in the Emirate of Dubai, our Al Qudra bridge is the longest rail bridge within the Emirate’s mainline network, forming a vital route for trade and commerce which positively contributes to the movement of goods throughout the UAE.”

Etihad Rail will initially launch to serve freight companies, before opening to passengers sometime after 2030.

The passenger train will connect 11 cities and regions across the UAE. It will stretch from Al Sila to Fujairah including Al Ruwais, Al Mirfa, Dubai, Sharjah, Al Dhaid and Abu Dhabi. Meaning that those who commute between the Emirates will be reduced by 30 to 40 percent compared to other modes of transport.

The railway network will also connect Sohar in Oman to Abu Dhabi in the UAE, via Sohar Port to the UAE National Rail Network. Trains are estimated to take 1 hour 40 minutes to move between Abu Dhabi and Sohar, and just 47 minutes to travel from Al Ain to Sohar.
