Dubai Named One Of The World’s Best Cities

There’s no denying that Dubai has everything you could want from a modern metropolis. It’s not just residents who appreciate all the city has to offer, but tourists too.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that the UAE spot has landed a place on the ‘World’s Best Cities by Resonance’ list.

Dubai secured 6th place on the list with researchers pointing out that the city is “lavish, luxurious and lively in equal measure” and “continues its epic ascent on the world stage”.

Dubai managed to place in the top 10 thanks to ranking number two for parks and outdoors and in fifth place for Instagram hashtags.

The survey also highlighted that the city ranked number eight in the attractions subcategory due to all the malls, record-breaking attractions, theme parks and family-friendly resorts.

The Middle Eastern location was beaten to a higher spot on the list by city-favourites including London, Paris, New York, Tokyo and Singapore, but placed higher than 94 other cities across the globe.

Here are the top ten cities:

  • London, United Kingdom
  • Paris, France
  • New York, United States
  • Tokyo, Japan
  • Singapore, South East Asia
  • Dubai, United Arab Emirates
  • San Francisco, United States
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • Seoul, South Korea

World’s Best Cities by Resonance chose the 2024 list by combining core statistics from 400 global cities and user-generated ratings and reviews from digital channels such as Tripadvisor, Google, Facebook and Instagram.

Resonance interpreted the data through the lens of three key factors — liveability, lovability and prosperity to make the top 100 list.

The researchers define liveability as resilient communities with sustainable infrastructure (to make cities and communities better places to live and visit), lovability is the perceived social vibrancy of a city to attract visitors and as a key driver of economic development.

Prosperity measures the growth and the opportunities created in the city.
