Dubai: La Mer Demolished As Massive Redevelopment in Works

The popular La Mer is being demolished…but don’t worry because something incredible is about to come!

The beachfront destination in Dubai is closing after four years in operation and the entire strip in Jumeirah 1 is set to be redeveloped.

The site’s southern premises has been locked down, but three venues of the northern site remain open, including Filli, Al Shorea, and Starbucks.

Whereas, the dining and retail areas next to the water park, called La Mer Central, are fully open.

Opened in 2018, La Mer was intended to be a mega tourist destination in Dubai, with over 130 restaurants, cafes, and shops, a cinema and Laguna waterpark.

However, restaurants gradually closed down due to footfall decline. Merex Investment, the developer behind La Mer – as well as City Walk in Al Wasl and The Beach in JBR – has announced plans to relaunch La Mer under a new name.

The investors are very hopeful that its relaunch will be something big and incredible.
