Dubai: Astrophiles Can Enjoy A REAL 2-Day Geminids Meteor Shower

Attention astrophiles, it’s your time to enjoy a celestial marvel in Dubai!

According to the Dubai Astronomy Club, the biggest and last marvel shower of the year is all set to peak on from December 14 till December 15.

The Geminids is a remarkable meteor shower known to produce more than 150 meteors per hour, but the actual number visibility is far less due to light pollution and other factors.

The yearly Geminids is more like a Christmas gift from the cosmos. Geminids meteors appear to radiate from near the bright star Castor in the constellation Gemini. However, the actual source of the shooting stars is a stream of debris left behind by asteroid 3200 Phaethon, making this one of the only major showers not to originate from a comet.

There will be a cosmic magic event on December 14th at the AL Qudra Desert organized by the Dubai Astronomy Group.

The event will be from 8 PM to 12 AM. It will include Moon, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn telescope observation; astrophotography session; sky mapping; naked-eye observation of the meteors, and much more.
