Dubai Announces New Resident Health Survey Starting This Weekend

A comprehensive health survey is about to be carried out across Dubai.

Announced by the Dubai Dubai Health Authority (DHA) this week, 2,500 families – both nationals and expats – will be part of it, with the aim being to improve the health and wellbeing of everybody living in the city.

Beginning on Sunday September 10, surveyors and nurses will visit households to pick up detailed information on issues such as health spending, healthcare usage and health status. They will also conduct basic screening for free.

The four main themes of the Dubai Household Health Survey are:

  • Diseases and chronic health problems (diabetes, blood pressure and obesity).
  • Healthy lifestyles (tobacco use, physical activity and healthy food).
  • Spending on health (spending on outpatient clinics and hospitals).
  • Quality of health services (satisfaction with the health status and services provided, and periodic examinations).

It will be the fourth Dubai Household Health Survey (DHHS), launched in collaboration with Dubai Data & Statistics Establishment, a subsidiary of Digital Dubai.

First carried out in 2009, the survey – conducted every five years – is the most comprehensive household health study in Dubai.

Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, praised the accomplishments of Dubai’s health sector.

He added that Dubai’s achievements on the health front have positioned it at the forefront of the world’s most advanced cities.
