New Palm Jebel Ali Plan Revealed: 80 Hotels And Resorts Coming To Site

Dubai, the ever-expanding city, is set to get even bigger.

Construction is resuming on the Palm Jebel Ali, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, has announced.

The Palm Jebel Ali was dredged in 2002 before construction stopped in 2008. Twice the size of Palm Jumeirah, the island has been dormant since, with reports circulating last year that Nakheel would be resuming the project and changing its name.

In the tweet announcing the revival of the project, HH Sheikh Mohammed wrote: “Twice the size of Palm Jumeirah with 110km of shoreline the beaches and greenery will offer its residents a good quality of life, and its visitors and tourists will be able to enjoy over 80 hotels, malls and attractions.”

With 80 hotels in the pipeline, we can expect new restaurants, beach clubs and attractions across the 110 kilometres of additional coastline in the coming years.

While the opening date has not been confirmed, the move is part of the government’s goal to double Dubai’s economy by 2033 and the city’s drive to become an even bigger tourist destination.

With Dubai’s public beaches on course to grow by 400 percent, the city is increasing its shoreside landscape. The stretch of public beach will grow from 21 kilometres to 105 kilometres.

On the public beach expansion, HH Sheikh Mohammed wrote: “Within the Dubai Urban Plan, we have adopted the development and doubling of public beaches by 400 percent by 2040. Increasing its area from 21km now to 105km… and raising the percentage of services by 300 percent on public beaches by 2025.”
