Emirates Astronomical Society Predicts Eid Al Fitr Start Date

Muslims are excited every year to celebrate Eid al Fitr. And this time, the Emirates Astronomical Society has come forward with its predictions.

According to scholars, the public holiday will coincide with April 20, 21, 22 and 23. If the predicted dates are correct, Thursday April 20 will be Ramadan 29 while Sunday April 23 will be Shawwal 3.

The official Eid al Fitr dates, as per the Hijri Calendar, are Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3 so UAE residents look set to be in for a four-day weekend.

The Emirates Astronomical Society shared the update with The National but the date of Eid al Fitr will not be 100 percent confirmed until the Moon-sighting committee see the new crescent moon.

There are 14 public holidays lined up for 2023 in the UAE. After Eid al Fitr will be Arafat Day, the second day of the week-long Hajj pilgrimage, expected to take place on June 27.

Following this, comes Eid al Adha – which is expected to be commemorated on June 28, 29 and 30. If this comes to pass, there will be four consecutive public holidays at the end of June – from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30.

It’s high time to start planning your Eid al Fitr break. Super excited, yayyy!
