A Dubai Speakeasy Is Hosting A DJ Battle For Aspiring Hip-Hop Disc Jockeys

There’s a DJ competition happening in Dubai this month and you can enter.

Secret Room (the speakeasy within FRNDS Grand Café) is hosting its first ever DJ competition.

Specifically for DJs who play hip-hop and rap, the bar is inviting aspiring disc jockeys to enter the competition, which will last for five weeks.

The Secret Room DJ competition will see 16 DJs take part in nightly 30-minute sets between 10pm and midnight. The first-place winner will be awarded a paid three-month residency at the popular speakeasy.

In order to be considered for a place in the competition you’ll need to post a 30-minute mix set on social media titled ‘Secret Room x cllctv_dxb DJ Competition’ hashtagging #SecretRoomdxb and #cllctv_dxb by Sunday September 10. You will also need to fill in this form.

Each week, one DJ will be chosen to move through to the final. In the last week, the four finalists will battle it out for the three-month residency.

Second prize will win a DJ set worth Dhs10,000, third place will get Dhs5,000 and fourth place will be awarded Dhs1,500.

The competition is being judged by the resident DJs from SOHO Hospitality Group. They will be judging the aspiring DJs on their originality, crowd feedback, track selection and their social media platforms.
