OKKU Dubai Reopens Today After Five Years Of Break

Japanese cuisine is one of the most popular in Dubai.

With so many great places to dine on sushi, sashimi, kushi and more, it’s tough to compete in such a strong area of the city’s food scene. But that won’t deter new venues, or some revamped ones, from taking a stab at it.

The once-popular Japanese restaurant OKKU, which was located at The H Dubai Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, is making a comeback after bidding farewell to diners back in 2018.

The new venue is located at Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah and opens its doors on Monday June 12.

Located on the ground floor, the venue has its own entrance located on the right of the hotel. OG fans will notice some similarities including the samurai soldiers and the jellyfish.

The focal point of the main restaurant is a 20-metre sushi bar and robata grill. For a more relaxed vibe, the OKKU Lounge offers lounge seating and dining, accompanied by a central bar.

Talking about its delicious menu, you can expect traditional classics of Japanese cuisine on the OKKU menu. Think wagyu beef and foie-grass kushiyaki, spicy, crunchy tuna on crispy rice, and more.

The OKKU team has promised that it flies in fresh fish and high-grade wagyu beef from Japan regularly. This means you should be tasting some top-quality ingredients in your dishes.

On the menu, you’ll also find a 1.7kg Japanese bone-in wagyu rib of beef and even Kobe beef, which is available upon request.

The interiors are an ode to Japanese design and culture. Think traditional wooden panels, stone walls and Japanese-inspired artworks. The venue also has eight 3D-printed Samurai soldiers, manufactured in Dubai and stand at 2.20 metres.
