The Bearded Bakers Have Officially Opened The Knafeh Bakery In Meydan

Kunafa is one of the most popular and delicious desserts in the Middle Eastern.

Having said that, people of Dubai are obsessed with Kunafa and the dance of bearded guys at the Knafeh Bakery.

The Knafeh Bakery, created by the Bearded Bakers, is an Australian-born brand known for its theatrical pop-ups. The team serve delicious Middle Eastern-inspired desserts while dancing on countertops.

In 2014, brothers Joey and Ameer El-Issa, along with their sister Mouna, founded Knafeh Bakery, serving their take on the Arabic.

Don’t expect the authentic Palestinian kunafa, this one is made with sweet cheese and semolina pudding, that is torched and topped with pistachio and sugar syrup, similar to a warm crème brûlée.

After years of perfecting their “food theatre”, the guys decided to bring the concept to Dubai’s Keturah Reserve. Located near FIYA, where diners can head from 8pm onward to enjoy dessert and a show, the Knafeh Bakery is a rooftop experience with gorgeous views of the city.

The Bearded Bakers serve their signature brûlée knafeh dish while dancing and spinning on top of tables. Also, on the menu, you’ll find Arabic ice cream, Moroccan tea, and homestyle lemonade.

Joey and Ameer explained that Dubai had been on their radar for quite some time now and that bringing Knafeh Bakery to the city has been a dream come true.

According to the team, The Knafeh Bakery space is inspired by the lounges of New York. Think simple white furniture and marble tables with views of the skyline. The bakery is a bit of a juxtaposition to the Mediterranean landscape surrounded by Keturah Reserve’s olive trees.

To answer the question of why people just seem to love these guys? While the kunafa offering is strong, what really draws people in, is the contagious and upbeat energy.
